This is dedicated to all of our artists who specialize in lifts and laminations. It’s a simple service, but the quality of the products you’re using can make all the difference. Gone are the days of using traditional perm solutions and rods for lashes and putting irritating formulas directly on the skin. Technology has advanced to keep the skin and hair safe without compromising the speed or quality of the service you’re performing.
At Sugarlash PRO, we have two different formulas to choose from: Lash Lift Solutions and the Lash + Brow Lamination Solutions. These have different active ingredients, processing times, and uses. As always, we’re here to share both sides so you can select the optimal solution for your business.
Understanding the Services: Lash Lifts and Brow Laminations
Before we get too far into the active ingredients, let's run through what each of these services looks like. Both are chemical services where the disulfide bonds are being denatured in the hair, then are re-strengthened to the desired look. This service will last up to 6 weeks depending on how your lashes and brows respond.
- Lash lifts are traditionally performed by brushing the lashes back onto a lash lift shield and applying the solution through the mid-lengths and base of the lashes to achieve a semi-permanent curl.
- Brow laminations, on the other hand, have solutions being applied directly to the skin while they’re being styled. Due to this, it’s extra important that you're using a skin-safe solution on your brow lamination clients.
Lash Lift Solution: Powerful and Efficient
Our Lash Lift Solution is a thioglycolic acid-based lift that is only suitable to be used when the lashes are being brushed back against a shield. This slightly stronger solution has a faster processing time than skin-safe solutions because we do not need to be as concerned about the potential for skin irritation during the service.
The Lash Lift Solutions are comprised of three steps:
- LIFT: a thioglycolic acid-based solution that breaks the disulfide bonds.
- SET: the solution that restructures the hair and develops hydrogen peroxide-based tints.
- NOURISH: a lightweight oil that can be applied directly to the lashes for extra hydration.
These 1 mL sachets can be used for back-to-back clients, as we do not suggest keeping them open for more than an hour. After that, the effectiveness of the solution starts to drop, and you’ll have unreliable processing times. Based on the sachet size, you would be able to get two clients per sachet, meaning that you can do 30 sets from a full set of solutions. If we wanted to do the math (don’t worry - we’ll do it for you), that breaks down to just $4.60 per client for their service.
While these small but mighty sachets are very convenient and produce reliable results, they can only be used for lash lifts. If you’re also interested in offering brow lamination at your salon, you might be more inclined to go for the Lash + Brow Lift Solutions.
Lash + Brow Lift Solutions: Versatile and Gentle
On the other hand, the Lash + Brow Lamination Solutions can be used for both lifts and laminations because it is a completely skin-safe formula. While processing lashes takes slightly longer than our Lash Lift Solutions, our Lash + Brow Lamination Solutions process lashes and brows quickly and evenly. It goes without saying that this is the perfect choice for anyone who offers both services.
Just like the Lash Lift Solutions, the Lash + Brow Lamination Solutions are a three-step process:
- LIFT: a cystamine-based solution that breaks down disulfide bonds while remaining completely skin safe
- SET: the solution that restructures the hair and processes hydrogen peroxide-based tints.
- NOURISH: a rich, nourishing solution with a lotion-like texture to hydrate the lashes and brows after being processed.
Another notable difference between these two systems is that our Lash + Brow Lamination Solutions come in 2 ml sachets, and they can be kept open for up to 24 hours. You can use these larger sachets for up to 4 services on either the lashes or the brows! If we want to break down the cost per service for these ones, it comes up to $2.53 per service when using the Lash + Brow Lamination Solutions.
