Top Lash Looks — Met Gala 2019
When this year’s Met Gala theme was announced as a riff on Susan Sontag’s famous essay “Notes on Camp”, we knew we’d see over-the-top, in-your-face style — and the stars did NOT disappoint.
But alongside the billowing, feathered, mirrored, sequined, structual, and even literally electric outfits (as in the case of Zendaya’s Tommy Hillfiger Cinderalla gown), we saw breathtakingly EXTREME lash looks that suited this year’s theme to a tee. Here, we rounded up the best, campiest lash looks that would have made Susan Sontag nod in agreement.
The iciest of the dramatic lash looks, Gigi Hadid came to SLAY in extra-long, frosty white lashes that gave her an otherworldly, ethereal appearance that heightened her incredible Michael Kors and catsuit and headpiece.
The 60s called to say Lilly Collins fits RIGHT IN. Only one lash look goes with that giant bouffant, and it’s Lilly’s ultra-thick, jet black spiky lashes paired with heavily-rimmed eyes and plenty of browbone-reaching purple eyeshadow.
The queen of the red carpet lash look, Jennifer Lopez complimented her beaded wig with sky-high spikes and haloed purple eyeshadow. She topped it all off with a signature ultra-bronzed face that showed off those killer cheekbones.
Lady Gaga knows how to commit to a huge theme — so it only made sense that her lashes did too. Those gold spikes are the longest we’ve certainly ever seen — and nothing if not extra CAMPY. Tiny rhinestones rimmed the outer edge to add glitz to one of the night’s most over-the-top beauty look.
A newcomer to the Met Gala, Lucy Boynton went over and above. She opted for her usual clumpy, doll-like lashes, but the pièce de résistance are the delicate rays of metallic silver liner dotting out from her eyes, drawing all the attention to them.
Hats off to Janelle Monae (who wore 4 of them!) for sporting a Met Gala look all about lashes from head to toe. With her cat-eye and extra-fluffy lashes, her showstopping Christian Siriano gown featured a blinking, lash-covered eye!
Our favourite look of the night is courtesy of Ezra Miller, who stopped people in their tracks with not two, not four, but SEVEN eyes, all sporting glam, feathery, FULL lashes. The contrast between the trippy illusion makeup and the classic red lip with pinstripe suit is already ICONIC.
