Becoming A Lash Artist vs Lash Tech
What’s the difference between an Artist and a Tech?
This is a simple and easy question to answer for us. The difference between a lash tech and a lash artist is this: Training.
It’s what sets every business apart in this industry - or any industry! It’s no secret that the more qualifications, or in the lash business, certifications, the more sought after you become because your work will speak for itself. Not only that, but having more training under your belt means you can justify bumping up your prices a bit and also add more services to your menu! Who wouldn’t want that? But first, you need to have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals and basics of lashing!
Our Classic Course is designed for beginner lash artists and teaches you everything from eye anatomy to the best lashing techniques for a beautiful classic set. This course is essentially Lashing 101 and will be what most techs have in terms of certification. Classic sets can definitely be beautiful and customizable to your client, however this usually takes a little more training and practice to get the perfect lash look for your client.
So following the classic course, most techs will usually take a volume course. This is an intermediate level course that will teach you how to create beautiful fans as well as how to properly apply them to the lash. Most techs will take this course to not only improve their knowledge and skill, but also to add another desired service to their menu. More services means you could think about boosting your prices to reflect your time and training!
Most lash techs will have a volume and classic certification, but what sets the tech apart from the artist is style. Not just any style, but LashSTYLE. Learning how to map an eye properly is vital to creating those perfect Instagram lashes. It’s not just about the map, though! It’s also about understanding unique eye shapes, sets, and planes. LashSTYLE is the first program in the industry that completely breaks down the rules for proper lash styling, from analyzing the client’s face and eye shape to assessing correct lash types, effects, and techniques to create sets that have clients RETURNING. Not all eye shapes and sets compliment big fluffy lashes; it’s important as an artist to understand the delicate balancing act between giving your client what they want, and what is best for them. Taking the LashSTYLE course will ensure that you have every tool in your arsenal to give your clients beautiful lashes! Still unsure? See what our past clients have to say about LashSTYLE:
“I HAD NO IDEA HOW LASH EXTENSION STYLING COULD CHANGE A FACE! MY CLIENTS WERE BLOWN AWAY WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GIVE THEM AN IN-DEPTH STYLING PLAN FOR THEIR FACE AND LASH LINE, AND HOW I WAS ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR INSECURITIES JUST USING LASHES!”
“THE LASHSTYLE PROGRAM COMPLETELY CHANGED THE WAY I DO LASHES. THE MANUAL IS BEAUTIFUL AND INSPIRING AND I ACTUALLY USE IT AS A TOOL IN MY CONSULTS FOR MY CLIENTS. I CAN TELL EVERY CLIENT FEELS SPECIAL WHEN WE TAKE THE TIME TO COME UP WITH MAPPING AND STYLING FOR THEM TO HAVE THEM LOOKING AND FEELING THEIR MOST BEAUTIFUL AND CONFIDENT.”
“MY CLIENTS ARE GOING CRAZY FOR THE KIM K SPIKEY EFFECT TAUGHT IN THE LASHSTYLE PROGRAM! THAT, AND THE SMUDGED LINER EFFECT — WHICH GIVES FLUFFY TIPS PAIRED WITH AN ULTRA DENSE LINER EFFECT AT THE BASE!”
